Michael Engström is one of the top tier bassplayers in Sweden. He is amongst other things known for his TV work at Bingolotto and is one of those players who do just the right things but make it sound interesting without taking over everything. Believe me, he is very technical and has complete control over his instrument. That is why I was so thrilled when he asked me to build him his Bass..

Choice was easy. "Build me a copy of your new Artist bass" (my own personal bass) but as a 5 string variant. So I commenced building it and it (surprise..) turned out as a 5 string variant of my personal bass. Bass sounds big, controlled and dynamic. The newly developed split coil pickups were used. Fatter than single coils and very clear and precise without any sterility to the sound. He wanted the 19 mm string spacing at the bridge so that was used along with a slightly wider neck than the 5 string 18 mm spacing neck.

Delivered to him in his place in Gothenburg I can say he was extremely pleased with it and just in time for the season finale of "bingolotto", a Swedish tv show. He also bought one of the 1026-600 speakers and is reportedly very happy with it. Michael is one of those guys that is very positive and nice to be around. So theres going to be future trips to Gothenburg. 🙂
